The Green Thing : A Writing Prompt by My Daughter

Sharing is caring!

Once a week, my daughter will look through all the writing prompt ideas you readers have left on my social media. She will choose one person’s idea, abd write a short story about it all from her own mind. She sits at the computer undistrurbed without any prompting from us. We just go through to correct spelling and grammar for search engine compatibility. ย Here is her newest story.

I was in class at the time, and my teacher was talking about summer vacation and stuff like that. All of the sudden a meteorite crashed into the schools lawn right after Mr.Douglas just got done mowing it. Everyone was going all cray cray about it. “Settle down students,” Mrs.Lucky said looking out the window. You should have seen her face. I was dying from me laughing.

We all ran outside, and Mrs. Kelly, our principal, came too. “Are you sure that it’s a meteorite?” I asked. It’s not. It was an egg; a giant egg, and its hatching. “That’s so cool!” said Cameren, who always says “cool” to everything.

POP! A cute little, green, fluffy looking thing popped right out of the giant egg. “Awwwweee,” said all the girls except for me and Abbie. We all wanted it then.

All of the sudden, “Rawr!” growled the cute ( quote quote ) alien. I thought it was going to be a nice and gentle alien, but not anymore. The alien was really creepy, and it looked like it was slobbering all over the place.

After all that commotion, I saw a shadow behind the cute beast….. It was Mr.Douglas, and he had a net. “Yipee! He saved the day by capturing the beast. HE’S MY HERO!” yelled Mrs. Lucky.
After that, we all went back to our classes, and packed our bags to go home. I can’t wait to tell my parents what happened at school today. I hope tomorrow will be an even better adventure.

As a teacher and mom I love this for a couple reasons. 1. It fosters imagination and creativity. 2. It builds confidence (allowing others to read what you wrote) 2. It adds technology
